
Neighborhood Advisor Program
Sponsored by the Onondaga County Office for the Aging and the Dunbar Association, Inc. the goal of the Neighborhood Advisor Program (NAP) is to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce isolation and inform seniors about services and activities for themselves, their relatives, and their friends and connect them with such services as they may choose.
Programs
- Outreach
- Computer classes
- Creative arts
- Inform and educate the community about the NAP program and its services for seniors
- Recreational activities and excursions
- RAPP or a Relative as Parents Program
- Assistance with HEAP, food, public transportation, medical forms, and housing assistance (referrals made to other agencies where applicable)
- Fit for the Next Fifty Exercise Program
- Visits to seniors who are homebound
Who is eligible?
- Any elderly person who is 60 years of age or older
- Receiving some services depend on the senior’s income level, based on the income, a neighborhood advisor will determine which of the services a senior is eligible to receive
Relatives as Parents (RAP)
The Relative as Parents program (RAP) is designed to assist grandparents and relatives who have taken on the role as the primary caregiver for the related child.
